Honouring Your Journey into Motherhood
Life moves fast. One minute you’re looking at a positive test in disbelief, and the next, you’re counting down the final weeks, preparing the nursery, and waiting to meet the little soul you already know so well. My maternity photoshoots aren't just about getting you to stand still, look at the camera, and smile. It’s about freezing a real moment in time, capturing the profound beauty and strength of your body, so you can look back and remember exactly how it felt to carry this new life in this very chapter.
Let’s be honest...
Our phones are overflowing with mirror selfies and quick snapshots of our growing bumps, but how many of those truly capture the depth of this moment, your radiant power, or the wonder of anticipation in a way that feels like art? Beyond that, a dedicated maternity photoshoot is a rare chance to step out of the frantic preparation and daily grind. To slow down, and just connect with the life growing inside you. These images become your family’s visual legacy; stunning heirloom portraits that your child will look back on with absolute wonder one day, seeing just how deeply they were loved before they even arrived.
Outdoor Maternity Photoshoot in the West Midlands
If you are happiest when you’re moving, breathing fresh air, and feeling connected to the earth, an outdoor maternity session is the perfect fit.
Rather than making you hold rigid, uncomfortable poses, I design these sessions entirely around natural movement, gentle connection, and ease.
We will head out to a beautiful local park or an open field right around the "golden hour", that magical time just before sunset when the light is warm, soft, and dreamy. I’ll guide you into beautiful pockets of light and use gentle, interactive prompts rather than stiff, traditional posing.
You can expect to walk hand-in-hand with your partner, feel the breeze in your dress, and share plenty of genuine laughs. It’s a relaxed, joyful experience where you can simply celebrate your body, allowing me to capture your most authentic, breathtaking expressions against a stunning natural backdrop.
In-Home Sessions Maternity in the West Midlands
For a look that is truly striking and sophisticated, I bring a premium, high-end studio experience right to your doorstep. If you are looking for timeless, painterly maternity portraits without the hassle of traveling to a busy commercial space, I set up my portable professional studio and artistic lighting directly in your living room.
This setup is designed for my signature Fine Art Maternity Portraits. By utilising moody, intentional lighting and clean, elegant backdrops, we focus entirely on the beautiful silhouette of your bump.
The result is a series of breathtaking, gallery-grade portraits that look more like fine-art paintings than standard photographs.
Let me tell you a story about an expectant mum

She arrived at her session feeling incredibly nervous

She told me she had spent the morning trying to cover up a line of stretch marks on her bump and felt self-conscious about how much her body had changed over the months. She almost cancelled, worried she wouldn't look good enough for fine-art portraits.
However, watching her later in the session, standing in the golden light of the sun, gently resting her hands on her bump with a look of pure pride and fierce love on her face, I knew those worries didn't belong there.
One day, that bump will be a memory, and the baby she was holding will be grown. That’s when those photos will mean everything.
"I was feeling so heavy and tired in my third trimester, but Gemma completely transformed how I saw myself. She made it so fun, and had my partner and me laughing. When we received our photos, I actually cried. The images are breathtaking, she captured us so beautifully. It was an amazing experience that I will look back on"

FAQ
When is the best time to book my maternity shoot?
The ideal time for a maternity session is between 28–34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully visible, but you’re still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the experience. Availability fills up quickly, so I highly suggest booking in advance to secure your preferred date.
Where do the sessions take place?
Most of my maternity sessions take place outdoors in natural settings, where the soft, organic backdrops beautifully complement the journey of pregnancy. If that doesn’t feel right for you, there’s also the option to be captured in the comfort of your own home. We can choose a location together that aligns with your vision and feels perfect for you.
How long does the session last?
Sessions typically last around 1-2 hours. There’s no rush, we take our time to make sure you feel relaxed and enjoy the experience.
What do I wear?
I have a small wardrobe selection available for you to use, however I generally recommend wearing simple, comfortable clothing that feels natural and reflects your style. Soft, neutral tones such as creams, whites, beige, denims and muted earthy colours work beautifully. Flowy fabrics and simple fitted pieces that show your bump photograph really well. For partners and children, coordinating neutrals are best, try to avoid bold patterns, logos, or bright colours so the focus stays on your connection. Once you’re officially booked, I’ll send over my styling guide to get the inspiration flowing. From there, we will chat through your outfit ideas together ahead of time, ensuring you feel completely confident, styled, and prepared for your big day.
How do I get changed during an outdoor photoshoot?
If you’d like to change outfits during your session, I can bring a pop-up changing tent for your privacy. Just let me know in advance and I’ll have it ready for you.
Can my partner and children be included?
Absolutely. Your maternity session can include your partner and children, making it a special experience for the whole family and capturing this chapter together.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day?
I always keep a close eye on the weather leading up to your session. If it’s looking like heavy rain, strong winds, or anything that would make your shoot uncomfortable or unsafe, we’ll simply reschedule to the next suitable date, no stress at all. That said, not all “bad” weather is actually bad for photos. Overcast skies can create beautifully soft, flattering light (perfect for maternity), and a bit of breeze can add lovely movement to dresses and hair. If it’s just a little cloudy or lightly drizzly, we can absolutely still go ahead if you’re happy to. Your comfort is the most important thing, so I’ll always guide you on what’s best and make the final call with you.
I feel nervous or not confident in front of the camera, will you guide me?
Of course. I’ll gently guide you into natural, flattering positions that feel comfortable and relaxed. There’s no pressure for anything overly posed, just a calm, supportive environment where you can feel at ease.
What if I don’t feel my best during pregnancy?
This is something I hear often, and you’re not alone! I believe this is even more of a reason to treat yourself to a maternity photoshoot. By the end of your session, my aim is for you to feel like the confident, radiant mum you are. This is such a special chapter for you and your growing family. It deserves to be captured in a way that you can look back on and treasure for years to come.
Do you retouch the images?
Yes, every image you receive is carefully edited in my signature style, with soft, flattering tones to create a beautiful and consistent gallery. For maternity sessions, I take a refined approach to retouching. This includes enhancing the overall look of the image to ensure you feel confident and your images look their absolute best. My editing style is designed to be polished and flattering, while still feeling natural and true to you. If there’s anything you feel particularly conscious about, you’re always welcome to let me know. I want you to love your final images.
When will I receive my photos?
Your private online gallery will be delivered within 1–2 weeks. You’ll then be able to view your beautifully edited images, and select your favourites.
What if I fall in love with more images than my package includes?
Don't worry, most people do! Once you’ve seen your gallery, you’ll have the option to upgrade or purchase additional images if you’d like more.
